December sunlight overflows the fields and fills the hedgerows which bleed with abundant hawthorn berries. A calligraphic flash swoops in front of the car and a small scarlet berry, bright as a baby’s eye, is falling from a beak.

    I see the English morning through your eyes as I watch the blackness outside my window fading into grey Berlin december daylight.
    No red berries here, just the skeleton frames of washed out trees, dull brown autumn leaves blanketing their toes and the shimmering baubles on a neighbours christmas tree peeping through their freezing fingers.
