Advent 21

At the horizon there is a stillness where the sky, steeped in tangerine and cranberry, is falling over the edge of the earth into the longest night. The lull of the season is spreading like an inkblot through the turning of the days, making shapes of mummers and kings who will come wassailing when yule gives way to light.
